Moving day has arrived and while you are probably excited to start getting your things out of your home, it is important that you slow down and take a couple of looks around your home. Below, we will go over some of the steps you need to take before you actually lock up and move to your new home.
- Take a Tour of Your Home
Take a tour of your home once everything has been moved out to make sure you grabbed everything. It can be easy to miss things with the hustle and bustle of moving day so take a couple of tours around your home and look in your closets, etc.
- Gather All of Your Paperwork
Before you leave your home, make sure that you gather all of your paperwork and have it in hand. You will need things such as birth certificates, social security cards, banking information, and similar.
- Clean Your Home
You want to make sure that your home is cleaned before you move out. This is because you do not want to leave the place a mess as others will not want to rent or buy it. If you rent, you need to clean the home to receive your deposit back. In addition, it is respectful to leave the home in the same manner in which you received it.
- Fix Any Broken Items
In addition to cleaning your home, you should make sure that you fix any broken items throughout the home. For instance, if the plumbing is not working correctly, you should repair the pipes or problem before you leave. If you are currently renting a home and you do not fix the item or you neglect to tell the landlord, you may find a surprise bill in the mail.
