If you have a smart television, you probably spent a bit of money on it and you do not look at it as a disposable purchase, but an investment. If you need to store your television in a storage unit, there are some steps you should take to protect the television. Below, we will go over some storage tips to help you keep your TV in good shape.
- Keep Your Television Box
If you have your television box, you are in good shape. If you do not, you should purchase a TV box to place your TV in. These boxes are designed to protect the television and usually come with foam inserts that you place around the edges of the TV. The foam protects the screen and also the casing around your television.
If you do not have a box and you cannot buy one, don’t panic just yet. You can wrap your TV in a blanket, bubble wrap, or any other soft item that will provide padding and protection to it.
- Always Clean Your TV
Before you even box up your TV, make sure that you are cleaning it. If you allow dust and dirt to remain inside the TV, you will end up with damaged electronics when you go to turn the television back on.
You should wipe down the screen and outside casing. You should also use a spray can of air to clean out the nooks and crannies of your television.
- Store the TV Upright
You do not want to store your television on its back. If you do, you run the risk of the electronics being moved around in a manner they should not be and you also run the risk of the screen cracking and breaking.
When it comes time to store the TV, make sure that you place the TV upright and secure it in between two other items that do not pose a risk to the television.
- Get a Climate-Controlled Unit
Your television should be stored in a climate-controlled unit to protect the electronics and hardware inside of it. Humidity can ruin your television so it is vital that you keep the humidity under control.
If you are preparing to store your television, make sure that you take the necessary steps to ensure it is protected. If it is not, you will quickly find that you are having to buy a new TV.
