When you placed your vehicle in storage, you took a bunch of steps to ensure that you were able to preserve the vehicle and keep it in good health while you were away. Now that you are back, you must follow some important steps to remove your vehicle from storage as well. Below, we will go over some of these steps and soon, you will have your vehicle back out on the road and functional.

  1. Check and Change Fluids

If you left any fluids in your vehicle’s reservoirs, you should check the fluid to make sure it is still the correct color. You want to ensure that there are no leaks or fluid leaking from different spots of the vehicle. If there is, you need to have the vehicle repaired prior to driving it.

If you do not notice any leaks, then you should change the fluids, including the oil. If the fluid is simply okay, but just low in quantity, then you can fill up the reservoir with more fluid.

  1. Check Your Vehicle’s Battery

Before you turn on the vehicle, take some time to look over the car’s battery and the cables to the battery. If they are corroded, then you need to replace them before running the vehicle.

  1. Check Your Vehicle’s Tires

Another important part of the vehicle that you need to check is the tire pressure. If you notice that the pressure is low, you will need to add air to the tires. If you find that they are low, you will also need to inspect them to ensure that there are no flat spots or spots that are worn down. If there are, then you need to replace the tire before you drive on it.

  1. Correct Anything You Changed

When you went through your vehicle and removed components or changed things before storage, make sure that you go back through and correct them before driving your vehicle.

When pulling your vehicle out of storage, you need to make sure that the vehicle is safe to drive on the road before you actually take it out for a drive. If it is not safe, you may injure yourself and you may damage your vehicle further. Pulling your car out of storage does not have to be a long, drawn out process, but you do need to properly inspect the vehicle.
