Inspect Your Awnings
One of the items that you may not readily inspect is the awnings on your RV. Often, they are out of sight, so they stay out of mind, but they play an important role in your camping experience. In fact, they protect you and your family from the sun and provide a shaded place to relax throughout the afternoon.
Before you head off for your next trip, pull out your awnings and look for any damage to them. While you have them out, now is a good time to wash them and remove any dirt or debris that may be caked on there. Once the awnings are dry, you can roll them back into place.
Check Your Water Heater
Imagine being out in the woods with nowhere else to shower only to find that your RV’s water heater is not working. While a cold shower may sound nice after being in the heat, it is not pleasant for everyone. You should take time to inspect the water heater before you head out for your trip to ensure it works properly, heats the water, and is not damaged. You do want to keep your eyes out for any cracks or rust.
Add Air to Your RV Tires
Blowouts on the interstate are extremely dangerous in an RV and can lead to a serious accident, so it is critical that you check the pressure in your RV tires. You want to make sure the pressure is exactly where it should be and if it is not, either add air or let some out.
If you notice that your tires are damaged, you should replace them promptly to ensure you and your family have a safe trip. Should you not know how much air is required for your RV tires, check the owner’s manual as it should tell you the recommended psi.
Check the Battery
If you did not remove your battery when storing your RV, you want to spend some time looking it over and testing it before you take off on a road trip. Often, batteries will discharge as they sit, and this can lead to issues for you. You want your battery to be safe for use so you must check the acid levels within the battery itself and check the fluids to make sure they are right where they should be.
If you notice any issues with your battery, it is better to change it out than to try and use one that is not safe.
