Your RV goes through a lot. Think about it. You store it, you drive it through muddy and dirty areas, and it takes on the brunt of all snow and rain when on the road. All of this leads to a messy and dirty RV.

Prior to placing your RV in storage, you want to make sure you clean it properly to avoid any damage or excess exterior wear. Below, we will provide you with some tips to help you clean your RV before you say goodbye to it for a couple months.

Have a GOOD Handheld Vacuum

Often, we underestimate how helpful a handheld vacuum is until you see all the food debris caked into the corners and small spaces within the RV. You want to have a GOOD one on hand – one that is powerful and can get those mess cleaned up, because, after all, ants and pests like food too.

Dump Out the Tanks

The dreaded tanks. Did you know that if you do not dump them out, they will create some pretty nasty odors? It happens, but you can avoid this by making sure to ALWAYS dump them out and even flush them to remove any bacteria that may linger.

Don’t Forget Your RV’s Roof

Unfortunately, many individuals find themselves neglecting the roof of their RV, but this is a BAD idea. Your roof stops all leaks from entering your RV and since it is exposed to the sun the most, you want to make sure it is maintained properly.

Empty Out the Fridge

It can be more than easy to forget about what you have in your fridge and last night’s dinner and easily turn into last month’s dinner. ALWAYS make sure you remove any leftover food and perishable items from the RV. If you do not, you will regret it as the food rots, molds, and lets off crazy pungent odors.

Have the RV Maintained and Serviced

A good tune-up is always in order, especially after going on long summer excursions. You can take your RV to any mechanic shop designated to care for RVs and have the oil changed, fluids topped off, and more. This step is more about peace of mind as you will feel better knowing that the RV has been serviced.

Your RV Relies on You

Remember, your RV cannot clean itself, which means it relies on you to do it before you place it in storage. Having a clean RV going into storage means you will have a clean one coming out of storage.
